2014: Ready to Rock

Image
There’s only a little over a month remaining until we hit another new year.   I am hopeful that 2014 will be better than 2013 was .   I am looking forward.   So is my planner.   I am all set for 2014, with inserts updated and ready to go. Back in August I bought the 2014 Day Per Page calendar inserts .   Soon after I received them, I added all pertinent information such as birthdays and anniversaries, paydays, holidays, and anything else that I might have noted for 2014. Also back in August, I bought a Thirty-one Gifts Keep-It Caddy specifically to keep and carry all of my Filofax gear.   This made it much easier for me to gather my supplies when preparing for 2014 (more on my entire Thirty-one collection forthcoming). I gathered my archive binder , my insert binder (more on this to come), my compact binder (I was using the Calipso at the time), my label maker, my 2014 inserts, and my bag of pens. Usually I keep other plannin...

The Midori Bandwagon

Image
I have just jumped onto the Midori bandwagon.   Or, to put it more accurately, I was pulled onto the Midori bandwagon.   Either way, I’m riding the wave of this awesome notebook! I received my first Midori just a few days ago, as a gift from a friend (thank you!).   I didn’t know what to expect other than knowing people absolutely love these notebooks.   I know that people personalize their notebooks with pieces of creative flair.   I know that some use their notebooks for notes, journaling, as a planner, or random lists perhaps. I had not a clue as to what I would use mine for.   I thought of a few ideas but nothing really struck me as the perfect use. Until I saw the notebook… Once I opened it, I knew I would use mine as a gratitude journal.   I got started right away. I’m usually not one to add a ton of creative pieces to any of my notebooks, journals, or planners.   So I don’t know that anything more will be added...

Planning Sleepy Hollow

Image
Last weekend the hubs and I went to Sleepy Hollow, New York for a little weekend getaway.   For those unfamiliar with the area, it is a small town just north (30 miles north) of New York City, full of history and legend.   The town was made famous by Washington Irving ’s story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow .   The mascot for the town is the Headless Horseman , as pictured at the right.   You might also be familiar with the title due to the new television show .   (By the way, the show’s storyline has absolutely nothing to do with the original tale.   The only things borrowed from the original story are character names and the idea of the Headless Horseman.   However, the show does boast a very good-looking British lead character.   This makes the show worth watching, in my opinion.   Of course, it’s generally entertaining as well.   But I digress…) Having never been to Sleepy Hollow and knowing virtually nothing about it, I had to...

Filo Pics and New Post-Its

Well, I managed to make it through the October Photo a Day Challenge .   I wasn’t sure I could, and some days, the last thing I wanted to do was take a photo, edit it, and upload it.   So I didn’t.   What’s nice about this challenge is that you can do it at your own pace—one a day, all at once, at the end of the month, every other day, etc.   I tried to do a photo a day, but when that wasn’t possible, I took the photos when I could and uploaded them when I had time.   It worked out splendidly. And I like it.   I like thinking of my planner in new and interesting ways.   I’m no stranger to being imaginative with my planners , but following someone else’s guidelines is pretty fun too.   You can see the full range of my October photos on my Flickr page .   But here are a few of my favorites: Day 14: In Your Bag Day 15: Planner Collection (I chose my compact collection specifically) Day 29: Polka Dots Day 31: Halloween...
