Guildford Personal

The newest member of my Filofax family is the Guildford Personal. Reader Gregorym bought this and did not like the leather and so offered it to me – I was toying with the idea of purchasing this binder and so his offer was just what I needed. I have been using it for two weeks now and I love it.

I have several personal binders and love them all, each for their own individual reasons. Last December I bought the Guildford Slimline because I wanted to downsize. I absolutely love, love, love the Guildford Slimline. But in recent weeks I have been nostalgic for a personal size binder to keep everything I need in one place. When I switched back to the personal size, I realized that my love for the Slimline wasn’t so much for the slimness of it, but for the Guildford style itself – the soft, supple leather and the front secretarial pocket makes this binder perfect for me.

When I knew I would be getting the Guildford personal, I reorganized not only my entire system, but also every piece of Filofax material I had. It was a good time to sort, purge, reorganize and regroup.

I have since received and moved into my new Guildford personal binder. It holds everything I need splendidly. It’s also looks very classy. I took it on vacation with me and it was everything I hoped it would be. I love it. Thank you, Gregorym!

I do have a confession though: I have been missing the slimness of my Guildford Slimline somewhat. Originally, I thought I would use it just for traveling. After all, I wouldn’t need everything with me on the trips I take. But then I thought, if there’s ever a time I’d need anything in my planner, it would be when I’m away – the need for something is sure to come up when you don’t have it with you. So then I thought maybe I’d use my Slimline to take to work – I could move the pages I need into it at the start of each week and keep everything else in my Guildford personal and keep it at home. I could move the pages back to the personal on days that I’m off since it and I would (presumably) be at home and could refer to it at any time. And if I’m out and about doing errands on those days off, I might need the full personal binder with me – I could take that with all of my lists and coupons and leave it in the car while in stores, etc.

I haven’t yet decided which way I’ll go. The options are many. But, this is one of the many reasons I love Filofax to begin with. The choice is completely mine.

Whatever I decide (and I’ll be sure to fill you all in), my Filofax family is now complete with the much-coveted Guildford personal.

  1. Oh I know what you mean.. I used a slimline for almost two years and it was so convenient to carry around... My pocket and A5 are great, but so much easier with the slimline. I think you should do as you say and carry the slimline to work and move around the pages. Looking forward to hearing the update!

  2. I used to do that - a personal at home and slimline on the go. It worked very nicely. This time though I have the Guildford personal, which is the style I love. So when I do use everything in one binder, it will be the style that works best for me.

  3. Yay!! So great that your absolutely loving your new Guildford!

I don't think I could ever use a slimline...I have this strange idea that a slim organiser isn't going to organise my life properly with those tiny rings.
Then again I'm using a Mini not only as a wallet but as an 'on-the-go' Filo...they'd probably fit the same amount of info. I guess it has got something to do with the fact that a Mini Filo just looks dashingly cute, while on the other hand a slimline, just looks like a famished Personal.. :P

  4. When I first bought the slimline, I didn't think I'd be able to use it either. Then I found a way to use it - put only 3 months worth of diary pages in it and keep everything else in a personal that stays at home. Now though since moving back into the personal fully, I tried using the slimline again and it just doesn't have the same euphoria it once did. I'm not exactly sure what I'll use the slimline for now, but it won't be as a planner. I'm back to the personal Guildford all the way.

I have a mini and used it as an on-the-go filo but that didn't last long either. Now I use my iPod Touch for my on-the-go organization and sync it once a week. So far, so good.

"Slimline looks like a famished personal." - LOL!
