Reggie On Location: Blizzard Nemo 2013

It was a dark and stormy night.  All week Reggie had been gearing up for the season’s biggest snow storm.  Nemo, they called it, saying it would bring 12 – 18 inches of snow, more in other parts of the country.  They warned of high winds and power outages.  The drama made Reggie just a little nervous.

Around 2 o’clock, the weather had turned, just as they said it would.  Traffic became a nightmare, leaving vehicles and drivers stranded on roads and highways.  Thankfully, Reggie was released from work early, and so made it home just in the nick of time.  But he watched by the window, knowing conditions were worsening by the minute.

The drifts by the back door were tall, and he needed a better view.  So atop his tower he climbed.

While the weather raged just outside his door, he took comfort in the warm fire that the hired hand had created for him.

But alas, even that was not safe for a fearful Reggie.

What IS this creature, Reggie demanded to know.  And why is he bothering me?  Maybe if I play dead, he’ll leave me be.

Thankfully, leave him be is just what the beast did.  And so Reggie was able to enjoy his Friday night pizza and beer, as nothing could stop him from his weekly tradition.

Indeed, it was a long night, with nowhere to go and nothing to do.  At one point, he got so bored that he tried his hand at knitting, a task belonging to the fair maiden.

But that turned disastrous.  Leave the knitting to the womenfolk, he said.

With a heavy heart and the fear buried deep inside, Reggie retired for the evening…

Upon awaking in the morning, he found that he was all but snowed in, with drifts up past his height.

[Sorry for the quality of picture - I couldn't get it any better than this]

He had to take a step back to take it all in.

[Again, sorry for the bad quality]

Sad and fearful still, he took to his coffee, double fisting for emotional comfort.

It was half-way through his second cuppa when he decided that enough was enough.  This is an outrage, he cried.  I am a nobleman; I should not be afraid of a little snow.  If I can beat ‘em, I’ll join ‘em!

Thus, he jumped off of the counter, ran to his mudroom, and threw on his snowsuit!

He even put on his wellies.

Fearful no more, Reggie jumped right into the snowy depths.

He was so joyful at the release of fear that he abruptly lay down in the snow and began making a snow angel.

He was quite happy with the result.

So giddy was he, that he did the unthinkable: he joined the rest of the brave souls in a polar plunge by stripping himself of his snowsuit and frolicking in the snow all but bare!

This left him drained of energy.  Happy and relieved that the worst of the storm was behind him, Reggie retired to his bedroom for a long, relaxing nap with his stuffed rabbit.

He will dream of nothing but warm weather and sunshine from now until spring.

Sweet dreams, dear Reggie…
